Organic Art
As an artist searching to portray the human spirit I focus on dreams to explore the places I live in emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. What we are and can be is in relationship with nature and the world, passengers in this cosmic dance of life and death. My work flourishes in the interaction of man and nature, opposites as dark and light are yet influencing and transforming each other by co-existing.
My use of dot, line and color in contrasting forms, shapes and hues creates what I call "Multidimensionality". I draw upon my studies and professional experience as an artist and musician to synthesize and apply the energetic dynamics of frequency found in sound, heat, color, and throughout the whole spectrum of life.
I love what I do and my ultimate goal is to be a better artist and person.

Perhaps the final word (and not exclusively so) for Enrique Castanon's art is transformation. Far from being a simple notion of growth or change, transformation in this art signifies and presents parallel visual possibilities. It is an art discovering movement in the forcefulness of line and excitement in the briskness of color. The intimate touches of fantasy in the creative response of making art provide a new window into even newer, undiscovered but vivid realities.

It is his unique ability to combine down-to-earth imagery with transcendental elements within an aesthetically harmonious format that makes Enrique Castanon a rare and rewarding painter whose intriguing neo-surreal compositions make a significant contribution to post-modern art.

I am having a very strong, positive, physiological response to the meandering lines. For me the lines remind me of veins or our life-lines while the shapes remind me of the cellular structures within our bodies. The faces are surprising and unexpected! They make me question what they are sharing or what they have said to one another. There is a floating or dream-like quality. The darker parts in the upper and lower left corners provide some grounding and balance.

Enrique Castanon's paintings combine childlike elements with the sophistication of an artist who has studied his craft well. Within that sphere of formalistic training and knowledge of art history, he delves into his inner self to create works that speak to our hearts, souls and dreams.
